Sodium on white bread went on PB and JS: Today's school lunch is a healthy, colorful afternoon meal! Here are some simple tips, lunch ideas and a shopping list that you will not be offered for business during lunch.





While school lunches are getting healthy, taking a lunch in packing and school will ensure that your child is getting a healthy, balanced diet.





Making lunch should be a team effort. Your kids can help to pack your lunch by spreading on spices or by putting food in a container. To save time in the morning, pack lunch at night before night.





The following are some suggested items that you can use to make sure that your child is eating a delicious but nutritious lunch:





The main dish





  • Lunch Meat and Loft Cheese Roll Up
  • English muffin pizza
  • Wrap Sandwich - Meat, Cheese, and Veggies in a Whole Grain Tortilla
  • Pita pocket stuffed with grilled chicken and vegetables
  • The soup
  • Chef salad with spinach, veggies, cheese, lunch meat and dressing
  • Tuna or chicken salad on a mini bagel




Breakfast and side





  • Fresh or dried fruit
  • Natural applesauce
  • Baked Toria Chips and Salsa

  • Homemade Blend Mix with Nuts, Seeds, and Raisins
